We had a party! I know, what else is new? But this time it was different. We had a six foot, life of the party charcuterie display for our guests to enjoy. They loved it and I loved setting it up. So how can you create the perfect board yourself? Glad you asked! Here are my top five tips:

One
Choose a board or in our case, an area you want to display your masterpiece on. Calculate how much food you will need. A safe bet is 2 ounces of meat and 2 ounces of cheese per person. If charcuterie will be the main feature like during a cocktail hour, double the amount.
Two
Start by creating your structure. What does that even mean? Fill small vessels or bowls with your desired dips, spreads and "wet" food items such as pickles and olives. Place those on the board first and play with the spacing. Make it look pretty. Play around with the design.
Three
3-3-3-3 Rule. Three cheeses, three meats, three starches, three accompaniments to create balance. Let's get fancy: style your cheese like a boss and create salami roses like a pro. Super pro tip: whip out that cutting board and prep everything ahead of time. Set up will be much easier and you will thank yourself later.

Four
Time to fill it up! Consider brie, havarti and cheddar cheeses. Or pick your favorites! For meats, I usually end up with the usual suspects including pepperoni, salami and prosciutto. Next, add a variety of crackers and crostini for our carb loving friends.
Five
Keep it fresh! Add your fresh fruit and veggies. Consider other accompaniments such as nuts, dried fruit and even something sweet such as chocolate. Lastly, my favorite part includes topping it off with rosemary spriggs or sage. It gives your creation a freshness and the elevated look you want and need. Adding these aromatic herbs certainly makes everything look polished!
Here are the items we used to create this look. Best of luck designing your next charcuterie board! Bon appetit my loves!
Okay great bye!
